(IDEXX Online) - Intergem, the annual German trade show for gems and jewelry, has canceled its 2025 edition because of low exhibitor numbers.
It had been due to hold its 40th anniversary from 11 to 13 April at Idar-Oberstein, a city with a 500-year history in gem cutting.
Recent shows have attracted around 90 exhibitors but organizers said they'd struggled to sign up enough for this year's show, especially those based locally.
"New concepts for a re-launch of the trade fair are currently being discussed," they said in a statement.
The Mayor of Idar-Oberstein, Frank Fruhauf. said Intergem was the flagship of the precious stone and jewelry region.
"The fact that it won't happen due to a lack of interest is great loss for the region," he said.
"Together we must ensure that Idar-Oberstein will soon be a bright meeting place for the industry again."
