Shareholders browsed the store’s offerings, considering the jewelry items as well as the discounts. Buffet may be under attack on Wall Street over the David Sokol affair, but in his own backyard, he has the admiration of his supporters.
Those visiting the diamond store this weekend mainly did so because of Buffet, who mentioned that one of his nieces just got engaged and that her engagement ring was bought at Borsheim’s, one of three jewelry retailers in the Berkshire Hathaway portfolio.
According to a report in the local Omaha World-Herald, Buffett’s customers included Jim and Mary Ann Hanson, who bought a 50th anniversary ring with five diamonds. “[Buffett] told us whenever he buys jewelry for his family he has never regretted it,” Mary Ann Hanson said afterwards. “He thought it would be a good investment.”
