AGS Labs Releases Facet Analysis Software
May 06, 12 AGS Lab announced the release of Visual Proportion Analyzer (VPA) during the annual AGS Conclave, held this year in The VPA examines the cutting precision of the levels or tiers of like facets on a standard round brilliant cut. The software includes 20 sample scans that exemplify various diamond cutting characteristics as well as an instruction manual. The program is free for private use, made available to consumers and trade members alike. However, to use the software with their own diamonds, users will first need to have Sarin .srn files and .stl files. VPA will then convert these files into PNG format files that any standard graphic program can open. AGS said the software is important because it validates claims of precision in cutting and can be used by retailers to buy more effectively and to sell tech savvy customers.
