Israel’s Polished Exports Up 39% to $437 Million

Israel’s net polished diamond exports rose to $436.9 million in February, making a 39 percent recovery compared to the dull exports of February 2009. Gross polished diamond exports rose 42.2 percent to $869.5 million.

 

The figures, published by Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics, do not include data about the volume of trade.

 

Israel’s polished diamond imports, largely returns, totaled $432.6 million.

 

Rough diamond trade was also on the upswing, with net exports totaling $244.2 million, shooting up 201.5 percent year-over-year.

 

Net rough and polished imports, according to the Bureau of Statistics, totaled $593.2 million, during the month.

 

Israel’s total rough and polished diamond exports in January and February rose to $1.6 billion from $798 million a year ago. Imports in the two month period rose to $1.1 billion from $343 million.
