Belgium Exports $1.1 Billion in Polished Diamonds in July

Belgium exported to its global partners a net of $321.1 million worth of polished diamonds in July, a 2.5 percent year on year increase. In terms of volume, Belgium’s international trade but generated, however, an overhang of 226,137.43 carats.

 

The European diamond center exported 811,036 carats with an average value of $1,380 p/c and a total value of $1.12 billion in July, according to data released Thursday by the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC).

 

Polished diamond imports of 584,898 carats worth $798.1 million averaged $1,364.52 p/c.

 

Nearly 30 percent of exports, $332.9 million, were shipped to the U.S. The U.S. was also the leading source of imports - $199.5 million worth of polished diamonds, for a net trade of $133.5 million

 

Israel was the leading supplier of polished diamonds by net trade, $10.7 million.
