Art and Jewelry Sales at Japan’s Dept. Stores $225M in August

- Precious art and jewelry sells at Japan’s department stores totaled 19.29 billion yen ($224.8 million) in August, a 7.1 percent decline from last year, according to Japan Department Stores Association. The category represented 4.4 percent of total revenue.

 

The country’s department stores sold Y434.67 billion ($5.07 billion) worth of goods, a 3.2 percent decline, adjusted to the number of open stores.
