Market Report for the week ending September 23, 2010

September 23, 10 by Natalie J. Raps, Edahn Golan

The global markets, with the exception of Ramat Gan that is on holiday vacations, are starting to pick up. Some are starting to work on early holiday orders, while others are completing orders from the Hong Kong trade show. The strong resistance to higher prices at the show disappointed many traders, but some view it as a healthy sign of stability.

The New York Market continues to be quiet, but orders are continuing to come in, as the season is expected to kick off the next few weeks. Demand is noted for 1.00-3.00 carats in SI+ clarities and heavy demand for I1-2 in sizes ranging from 0.05 carats to 1.00 carats.
