Market Report November 25, 2010

November 25, 10 by Natalie J. Raps and Edahn Golan

Strong demand across all centers with the holiday stocking up finally in full swing with the small exception being the slowdown in the U.S. trade late in the week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

The pressure on prices continues, but traders are reporting that the strong resistance is abating in growing frequency.

U.S.

The New York market has been a bit quiet due to the Thanksgiving holiday and long weekend. In rounds, 2 to 3 grainers are still reporting high demands, as are 1.00-2.00 cts. I1-2 goods are still in top demand. Healthy demands are also reported for fancy cuts.  As opposed to rounds moving especially well in KLM colors, fancy cuts below J color are very hard to sell, and can be bought at competitive prices.

Movement of 0.10-0.99cts in SI and lower qualities fancy cuts are steadily moving, specifically pears and ovals in all clarities, I+ colors. Marquises are selling better in 0.10-0.40 carats.
