Diamond Theft: Thieves Steal Diamond Worth ~$10M at Baselworld

(IDEX Online News) - Thieves were able to steal a few diamonds from one of the booths in Hall 3 at Baselworld. According to initial reports, three or four diamonds were stolen from one of the small display window. According to a security person, the diamonds are worth an estimated $10 million.

The perpetrators have loosened the display’s window after hours, when diamonds are stored in safes and security is low. During the morning hours, and after the diamonds were placed in the display, the window was apparently removed and the diamonds were stolen.

At present, it’s not clear if the theft was captured by any of the many security cameras placed around the booth.
