Volume of India’s Rough Diamond Imports Decline in June

– While India’s polished trade paused in June, rough diamond trade kept growing. India imported $1.59 billion worth of rough weighing 13.6 million carats during the month.

 

The gross imports increased 38% by value but fell by 14.6% in volume. The average price of imports soared 61.5% to $1,168.57 p/c, as the price of rough diamonds keeps rising.

 

Rough diamond exports grew by 66.4% to $151.3 million, based on preliminary figures released by the GJEPC on Wednesday. The volume of exports increased by 8.7% to 2.75 million carats in June.

 

Net rough diamond imports stood at $1.43 billion.
