In 2011, the center saw polished diamond exports of 970,516.14 carats, a figure that dropped to 652,916.33 carats last month.

By value, however, the Belgian center’s level of exports rose a decent 5.83 percent year-over-year from $1.303 billion to $1.379 billion

In terms of polished diamond imports, the center saw a drop in both the value and the volume of goods imported in March.

By volume, polished imports fell from 959,954.31 carats in March 2011 to 734,565.51 carats, a tumble of 23.48 percent.

The value drop was much less substantial, falling 2.62 percent over the same period last year.

This meant that the volume of polished imports dropped from $1.338 billion to $1.303 billion.
