Good Solid Expectations

The goods were rounded-up, marketing plans are in place, cocktail events planned and fingers are crossed. The 2011 JCK, Couture and AGTA Las Vegas shows are a go. 

There are many signs of high expectations.  In general, the mood is good. Rising polished prices usually happens before any show, but record prices demonstrate high expectations, as well as shortages.

Financial indicators are positive. One such indicator is the growth in consumer spending. In June 2008, we wrote that the Las Vegas show was weak. In retrospect, it was an early sign of things to come. Retailers saw a decline in purchases and in return limited their orders at the show. The proverbial writing was on the wall.

This year is different.  Everyone I asked expects good business. This will set off a great Holidays Season as well. We need it.
