DDC Delegation Visiting Dubai to Strengthen Ties with DMCC

June 23, 04 by Edahn Golan

A delegation from New York’s Diamond Dealers Club (DDC) is in Dubai for a 3-day visit hosted by the Dubai Metals and Commodities Centre (DMCC) to build closer business relationship between the diamond exchanges.

During the visit the delegation met with senior DMCC representatives to discuss strategy and mutual areas of co-operation and visited the recently launched Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE) along with other major projects in Emirate.

Heading the DDC delegation is Jacob Banda, President of the Club. “This is our first visit to the region and we have been tremendously impressed. (…) To demonstrate my confidence in Dubai's ambitious initiatives, I am pleased to sign up as a founding member of the exchange,” he said.

Banda was one of ten delegation members that signed up as founding members of the DDE.

DMCC Chief Executive Tawfique Abdullah said discussions with DDC have already opened up interesting business opportunities.  “There are clearly real synergies that exist between Dubai and New York in the diamond business.”

“As a growing global hub, Dubai needs to forge closer relationships with all the great international diamond and precious gems and metals centers in the world including New York, Antwerp and India,” Abdullah added.
