Shore Gold Makes New Recoveries From Star Kimberlite Project

July 15, 04 by Albert Robinson

Canadian miner Shore Gold has announced the second set of diamond recoveries from its Star Kimberlite project in central Saskatchewan.

The results relate to five kimberlite batches out of a total of 80 to 100 kimberlite batches that will be processed as part of the bulk-sampling program from the project with the aim of recovering a parcel of around 3,000 carats for valuation purposes.

A total of 1,072 commercial sized diamonds with a collective weight of 111 carats were recovered from the treatment of 1,605 dry tons of kimberlite. In the second set of recoveries

Of these, 12 diamonds larger than one carat were recovered, with the three largest stones weighing: 5.76, 4.09 and 3.96 carats.

“These diamond results confirm the high proportion of white stones seen in the initial diamond parcel,” said Senior Vice-President of Exploration, George Read. “In addition, the three largest stones of this parcel all exceed the largest stone of the first parcel. We are very encouraged by the size and quality of the diamonds we continue to recover.”
