Judgment Day Approaches For HRD Awards Competition

Competitors in this year's Belgian Diamond High Council (HRD) Awards jewelry design competition will know in less than a month if they have won a prize at the prestigious design contest.

A total of 46 finalists from 14 countries presented 49 finished jewelry pieces to an international jury for final judging which will take place on May 10. Awards will be handed out at a glittering prize giving ceremony scheduled for May 25.

The HRD Awards, sponsored by major global diamond industry financer ABN AMRO Bank, is considered to be the premiere competition in the world for ground-breaking diamond jewelry design.

The biennial contest was launched in 1984 with the aim of enhancing creativity and design excellence in contemporary diamond jewelry in Belgium.

The 2005 competition, which had as its theme “Diamonds Are Fun”, saw 850 designs submitted by 490 artists from 45 countries.
