Billionaire diamantaire Benny Steinmetz placed his Steinmetz Pink on sale. The internally flawless 59.6-carat vivid pink could possibly fetch $100 million. The Steinmetz Pink is currently on display at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC.
The belief in the market is that Steinmetz put the gem up for sale to help finance the buyout of property company Chelsfield.
Billionaire metals and property investors Simon and David Reuben, Saudi trading group Olayan and Halifax Bank of Scotland Private Equity have joined Steinmetz in the £880 million bid for Chelsfield.
