Dubai Jewelry Show Set to Break Records
December 06, 04The 10th International Jewellery Dubai (IJD) 2004, which opens today, is set to break all records with a doubling of exhibitor numbers and a substantial rise in floor space, according to show organizers.
The show, taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), features 454 exhibitors compared with 225 last year, and will occupy an area of 8,311 sq meters - up from 5,000 sq meters at the 2003 show.
“As the figures indicate IJD has grown tremendously in stature and while it is already the most significant show of its kind in the region, it is now set to take its place among the premier shows serving the jewelry trade on the world stage,” said the DWTC’s, Christina Nicholson.
While the show is open to trade visitors and VIPs today (Monday), on the following two days there will be exclusive sessions for trade visitors and buyers from 11 am to 4pm with the public only allowed in after 4pm. The public will be allowed in to the show all day on December 9 and 10.
The event has been moved to December from April since this is the month when manufacturers meet buyers from across the Middle East as they restock to prepare for year-end sales.
Many famous faces in the global diamond and jewelry trade will be exhibiting at the show. These include Aspeco, Livingstone, Rosy Blue, Supergems, Tache, Intergems-Claes, SDE and AMC. Among top-drawer jewelers exhibiting are Adler, Bovet Watches, Graff, Pasquale Bruni, Scavia and Tiffany & Co.
Country pavilions include Italy, Taiwan, Belgium, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Thailand and Turkey as well as a special Branded Jewelry Pavilion being introduced for the first time at IJD featuring more than 50 leading worldwide brands.
Meanwhile, the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group, a group of more 550 members, has a pavilion hosting over 12 leading jewelry makers from the United Arab Emirates. The organization is aiming to highlight the local market’s capabilities and promote Dubai as a manufacturing destination and not just a trading center.
In addition, the DTC is planning a Diamond Day presentation, showing international and local members of the diamond industry the opportunities that exist to become a part of the growing diamond market in the Gulf.
