Japan’s Takashimaya to Sell Giant Diamond
September 06, 05Japanese chain store Takashimaya Co is to sell its most expensive ever piece of jewelry - a 66-carat diamond for 1.895 billion yen ($17.4 million) - at its Nihonbashi department store in Tokyo.
Approximately three cm wide and long, the gem will be on display at a special fair at the store from Wednesday through Sunday along with various other diamonds and jewelry from all over the globe.
Among the pieces on display will be a 115.5 million yen ($1.1 million) vest made of 18-carat gold and featuring dozens of diamonds.
A rare red diamond from Australian miner Argyle will also be on exhibition. Its price? A mere 36.75 million ($337,000) yen price tag.
