Alrosa Sells 963 Rough Diamonds at +10.8 cts Auction

Alrosa closed its 11th international auction of special-sized diamonds, 10.8 carats and up, selling 15,600 carats of rough goods for $28 million. The auction, held in conjunction with the Diamond Chamber of Russia, offered 138 parcels with 963 rough diamonds in total.

The auction, which opened October 17, included five exceptionally large diamonds of over 50 carats, the largest weighing 110.86 carats.

The 37 bidding companies were from Israel, Belgium, India, Switzerland, China, the U.S., Belarus and Russia.

Alrosa’s next international auction is scheduled for early 2006.
