JSA Issues Warning To Traveling Salespersons in Utah
January 29, 07Following several armed robberies of traveling diamond and jewelry sales people in Utah, Jewelers' Security Alliance (JSA) has issued a warning, advising traveling sales people in the state to exercise extreme caution.
In the last such incident, a traveling diamond salesperson from California, holding a rolling bag was walking from his car into a department store when a green minivan with tinted windows and “Ski Utah” license plates pulled up beside him. Three men got out, one pointing a gun at the salesperson, and demanded the rolling bag and his car keys.
“Salespersons are urged to exercise extreme caution in this area and to use evasive driving techniques before and after each sales call to reduce the risk of being followed,” JSA warned jewelers traveling in the region.
JSA is a non-profit trade providing crime information and assistance to the jewelry industry and law enforcement since 1883.
