Colts Receive Super Bowl Bling Rings
June 14, 07 “There’s obviously some bling,” said team owner Steve Irsay in reference to the jewelry. Herff Jones, a local jeweler, created the rings, as well as two other type of rings, given to employees and other recipients, whose identities were not disclosed. Also found on the ring are various symbols that speak of the team’s perseverance and sweat that were required to meet their goals, including a dot of red enamel symbolizing a drop of blood. This is representative of players “leaving it all on the field”, according to Pete Ward, the team’s senior executive vice president. Irsay intended that symbolism would play a key part in the rings’ design. "That's the powerful thing about it," he said.
