Belgium Polished Exports Rise 14% in May
June 23, 08 Belgium exported $1.1 billion worth of polished diamonds in May, a 14.1 percent year-over-year increase. The country, however, shipped a decreased volume of goods, 792,630 carats in total, a 3.97 percent decline. The average value of exports rose to $1,390 per carat. The rise in exports was mostly boosted by large shipments to the U.S., which rose 15.6 percent to $414 million, most likely spurred by the JCK show in Las Vegas that opened May 30.
