Alrosa Sells $255M of Rough to the Market in October, Revises Results

October 27, 09 by Edahn Golan

Sales by Russian diamond miner Alrosa in the first nine months of 2009 totaled $1.73 billion. Sales in October have so far reached $351 million, according to the company. The October sales include $255 million worth of goods sold on the diamond market and the remainder likely sold to the state repository Gokhran.

The nine-month figure differs from a report Alrosa published earlier this month. The company previously said that sales in the first three quarters of the fiscal year totaled $1.34 billion.

According to Alrosa, which is considered a high-priced supplier, the October sales were at “fair [market] prices,” to major manufacturers.
