India Exports $2.4B of Polished in September

(IDEX Online News) - India’s gross polished diamond exports totaled $2.4 billion in September, a 36.4 percent increase from September 2009. The volume of exports, 5.7 million carats, increased 7.5 percent year over year.

India’s polished diamond imports in September increased 85.9 percent to $1.72 billion, according to provisional figures published Sunday by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC). The country imported 2.8 million carats of polished diamonds.

In the first six months of the fiscal year, India exported 12.72 billion worth of polished diamonds, while importing $8.4 billion of polished.
