Exhibitors Report Good Traffic at HK Show
March 12, 07Exhibitors returning from the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show reported good buyer traffic for the most part, though some exhibitors expressed a measure of disappointment from the show. Strong demand for larger goods was noted.
The show, which ran March 6-10, saw visitors from all around the globe, including many Europeans that mostly visit the September show in Hong Kong.
According to exhibitors, this strong traffic translated into actual sales as well as new contacts. Suppliers note they fetched satisfactory prices for their goods despite pressure from buyers. Some exhibitors expressed disappointment, saying they had high expectations from the show. However, the recent fall of the Chinese stock exchange may have led to cautious purchases by buyers from Mainland China, restricting cash.
Demand was noted for the full gamut of polished goods, in particular for larger goods of 2.00 carats and above.
Demand extended beyond diamonds with a noted high level of orders for jewelry.
