Antwerp Diamond Bourse to Launch By-Invitation-Only Diamond Trade Fair

Aiming to boost polished diamond sales, the Antwerp Diamond Bourse (Beurs voor Diamanthandel) will hold a three day Antwerp Diamond Trade Fair February 7-9 that will bring together local diamond traders with buyers from high-end European jewelry firms.  

The 105-year-old Bourse invited about 120 buyers to meet 43 Antwerp-based diamond firms that will offer their goods. The fair will be held, at the exchange’s historical trading floor. Some of the invited buyers have not done business in Antwerp before.

According to Antwerp Diamond Bourse President Artur Beller, “Antwerp is the world's number one diamond trading hub for polished diamonds.” The bourse believes it can offer the widest possible range of polished diamonds to an exclusive group of diamond buyers.

Raphael Rubin, who, together with bourse board members Bernard Weinberg, Jacky Korn and David Pienica, serves on the Antwerp Diamond Trade Fair organizing committee, said preparations for the Antwerp Diamond Trade Fair began more than two years ago.

"Many of our members exhibit annually at the leading international jewelry fairs,” they said. “But the diamond bourse believes that it has to become part of the growing number of invitation-only exhibitions aimed at high-end diamond, gem and jewelry buyers.”

The Antwerp Diamond Trade Fair is sponsored by the Antwerp World Diamond Centre, the umbrella organization of the Belgian diamond industry.
