IGI Opens School in Surat

The International Gemological Institute (IGI) has a launched School of Gemology in Surat, India, where it has introduced a course on polished diamond grading, the lab announced Wednesday.

 

Members from the gem and jewelry industry attended the five-day course, which went over topics such as the four C’s, diamond treatments, synthetics and pricing. Upon completion, participants were handed a diploma from the IGI headquarters in Antwerp, Belgium.

 

“IGI has been conducting courses and programs for manufacturers and traders in Surat for over nine years now. With a School of Gemology in Surat which offers a wide range of courses, IGI plans to bring practical courses for the traders, manufacturers, jewelers and gem enthusiasts for the people of Gujarat,” said IGI General Manager Ramit Kapur.
