Despite Terrorist Attacks, Israeli Firms Insist on IIJS

July 18, 11 by IDEX Online Staff Reporter

(IDEX Online News) – Israeli diamond traders, very familiar with terrorist attacks and how it affects business activities, are not wavering from their commitments to furthering ties with their Indian counterparts.

Insisting on business as usual, the Israel Diamond Pavilion at the upcoming India International Jewelry Show (IIJS) in Mumbai will be full, Pavilion organizers, the Israel Diamond Institute, said Monday.

The Pavilion will include eight Israeli companies. According to the IDI, there is a long waiting list of Israeli companies that would like to join the show.

The Israeli companies exhibiting in the Pavilion are AG Diamond Direct, Hausman Diamond Manufacturers, Julius Klein – Eliaz Diamonds, Niru Diamonds, Schachter & Namdar Asia and Shlomo Bichachi Diamonds and Sorum Diamonds.

IIJS will be held August 4-8 in Mumbai.

IDI Chairman Moti Ganz said that Israel and India have a great deal in common – in terms of business outlook, culture and values. “Both countries are ancient civilizations and young democracies, and both have had to deal with the horror of terror."

IDI Managing Director Eli Avidar said that IDI is planning to open a representative office in the Bharat Diamond Exchange during the year. “The Israeli Diamond Industry is very interested in the Indian market and IDI supports the expansion of ties between the two diamond industries. We believe the new office will be an important factor in promoting these business ties,” said Avidar.
