Japan Not Losing its Interest in Diamonds
October 06, 11 by Edahn Golan
(IDEX Online News) – Though August tends to be a slow month for polished diamond imports into Japan, compared to last year, imports increased. Japan imported in August 171,733 carats of polished diamonds worth $63.8 million, rising 38.7 percent in value.
The average value of imports stood at $371.59 p/c, based on figures released by Momozawa & Co., Inc.
Japan's interest in diamonds tends to ebb and flow over time. After a long decline, in the past year Japanese consumers found renewed interest in diamond jewelry.
