(IDEX Online News) – Israel's rough diamond trade was rising in the third quarter of 2011, according to the latest released figures. Net rough diamond imports increased about 35 percent to $3.519 billion.
Net rough diamond exports totaled $2.981 billion in the July-September period, rising by 31.8 percent, according to figures released by the Ministry of Industry, trade and Labor on Monday.
The ministry did not provide figures about the volume of trade.
"The first three quarters of 2011 demonstrated a rise in all parameters of diamond imports and exports for Israel," said Diamond Controller Shmuel Mordechai. However, starting in August, there is a certain softening to the increases and the industry is searching through this period of unfolding global crisis, Mordechai added.
