Eighth Annual WDC Meeting to Take Place in Italy

(IDEX Online News) – The World Diamond Council (WDC) today announced that its eighth Annual Meeting will take place in Vicenza, Italy from May 13-14, 2012. The event is being hosted by Fiera di Vicenza, one of Italy's leading trade fair operators.

"With the agreement on Marange at the Kimberley Process (KP) Plenary Meeting in Kinshasa last month, the way is now open to tackle some of the other pressing matters on the agenda," said the president of the WDC, Eli Izhakoff. Among these issues is the reforming of the KP structure.

"We are most excited at the prospect of being able to welcome the leadership of the diamond and jewelry industries to Vicenza, which is a city that for centuries has supported and been supported by the jewelry business," said Dr. Roberto Ditri, President of Fiera di Vicenza. "We are also most proud to lend our support to an organization which is dedicated to promoting the ethical and sustainable trade in diamonds and jewelry."

This is the third time that the WDC Annual Meeting is being held in Italy.
