Record Attendance at HK Jewelry Show
February 22, 12(IDEX Online News) – More than 3,100 exhibitors from 48 countries and regions took part in the 29th edition of the HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, which closed Tuesday after drawing a record 38,000 buyers. Buyer numbers for the five-day show were up 3 percent over 2011.

Diamond traders told IDEX Online that business was "surprisingly good." Buyers were interested in a wide range of goods, especially diamonds 1 carat and smaller. Demand was also noted for 1.5 carat goods and 2 caraters. Larger goods of 3 carats and up were facing price resistance.
When it came to cuts, buyers were interested in rounds and fancy shapes, such as cushions.
Raymond Ng, director of Hong Kong’s Yokee Hong Diamonds Jewellery Ltd. "Some of them have even placed orders and made money transfers without even seeing the products in question,” he said.
