Leibish & Co. to Unveil $4 Million Purple Orchid Diamond in Hong Kong
August 28, 14 (IDEX Online News) – Israel-based diamond jewelry company Leibish & Co. is putting a 3.37-carat Fancy Intense Pinkish Purple VS2 diamond, dubbed the Purple Orchid diamond, on display for the first time at the upcoming Hong Kong show.
The asking price for the diamond, which originated in South Africa, is $4 million.
The stone, which was more than 4 carats in the rough, took over four months to polish.
“The cause of purple in diamonds remains a mystery, which only adds to the glamour and attractiveness of diamonds like these” said Leibish Polnauer, president of Leibish & Co.
“There is currently a huge demand for luxury items that are different and stand out, not something that everyone already has… There are very, very few diamonds on the market above 3 carats with purple as the main color, which is what makes this exquisite diamond so rare.”
