IDI: Hong Kong Fair A Great Success
October 07, 03The Israel Diamond Institute, the body that organized the Israeli presence at the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Watch Fair says that buyers received Israel’s impressive showing at the show with great enthusiasm.
This year the Israeli industry sent the largest contingent ever to the show, with 35 Israeli manufacturers and exporters exhibiting within the Israel Diamond Pavilion, and an additional 18 companies located elsewhere throughout the fair. Israel was the third largest exhibiting non-Asian country.
According to the IDI, Israeli diamantaires made significant business contacts at the fair and closed important transactions, while the fair provided an opportunity for these diamantaires to meet major players in the rapidly developing Chinese market and Chinese buyers showed great interest in Israeli diamonds.
Fair organizers report that the largest number of visitors from outside of Hong Kong came from Mainland China, with 3,232 Chinese participants.
The IDI is expecting the Israeli presence to be even bigger next year and that the 600 square meter Israel Diamond Pavilion will have to be enlarged, as many of the exhibitors clearly need additional space.
Simcha Lustig, Chairman of the IDI, applauded the massive participation of Israeli companies at the Hong Kong fair, saying, “The Israeli industry, as a global leader in the manufacture and export of polished diamonds, is constantly seeking to expand its marketing reach. The Far East has been and remains a major market for Israeli diamonds. The countries of the region, and China in particular, are among the major growth markets of the future and we will continue to enhance our activities there”.
