Double Digit increase in Israeli Rough Trade in May
June 03, 04The strong increase in exports and imports of rough diamonds at the Israeli center continues, registering a double-digit increase in both cases last month despite continued mushrooming prices and great demand.

Net rough diamond exports in May totaled $283 million, an increase of nearly 29 percent compared to exports of $220 million during May 2003.
Net rough diamond imports during the month displayed an even greater leap with an increase of 39 percent to $410 million from $295 million last May.
The global shortage in rough diamonds did not prevent a swell in import to the Israeli market, rising some 49 percent since the start of the year.
