Thanksgiving, DDC Style
December 05, 04 A recent story by industry analyst Chaim Even-Zohar published in IDEX Online’s Tacy Memo he reveals that the New York Diamond Dealers Club Board decided to give its President, Jacob Banda, a $50,000 personal “bonus” out of a $270,000 surplus generated from hosting the recent Diamond World Congress in New York.
Titled “Giving Thanks at the Diamond Dealers Club”, Even-Zohar writes that the DDC Board of Directors, at its first meeting after hosting the congress, decided almost unanimously on a bonus to the bourse’s President, Jacob Banda, “who had worked so hard to make the Congress a success”.
At the Antwerp Diamond Conference held last month, the HRD proudly announced that the surplus earned was being donated to six different charities. At the gala dinner, the names and the causes appeared on slides for all to see. In New York there are plenty of charities that could benefit from the Congress surplus.
Banda says he plans to give the money to charity.
