Alrosa Top Brass Tours Arctic Operations
January 19, 05Alrosa President Alexander Nichiporuk, accompanied by a group of the miner’s senior executives, toured the company’s diamond operations in the Arctic region of Sakha (Yakutia) over the weekend.
On the agenda were non-mining related issues such as job creation, nature conservation, environmental protection for the Arctic and development of Yakutia’s northernmost township Yuryung-Haya, addressed during a meeting with community activists.

The meeting focused on Nichiporuk's goal of reducing production costs and he asked the team to put together a detailed program for achieving this.
Nichiporuk plans to continue his working tours, and will visit Alrosa’s diamond operations in West Yakutia later this week.
In other news, Alrosa announced that Vladimir Kalitin stepped down from his short-lived position as Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board and his appointment as First Vice-President for Technological Policy.
In a new role, Kalitin will be responsible for Alrosa’s “technological policy and operation development strategy” where the company has mines and projects.
