Alrosa Makes Another $25 Million Auction
June 19, 05Russia's Alrosa, the world's second biggest diamond miner, sold $25 million worth of rough diamonds at its last international auction of big stones, its eighth such auction.
The miner reportedly sold all 112 parcels, containing 863 diamonds each weighing 10.8 carats and up. A total of 14,350 carats were sold at the auction.
Among the diamonds were nine weighing more than 50 carats, with the largest of them weighing 88.96 carats.
The international auction is open only to invited firms, hand picked by Alrosa. To the eighth auction were invited 36 firms from Russia, India, Israel, Belgium, Japan and Belarus.
