Alrosa, Diamond Chamber of Russia Raise $25 Mln at Auction

Russian diamond monopoly Alrosa and the Diamond Chamber of Russia raised around $25 million from the sale of around 15,600 carats of diamonds, including some very large stones.

On offer were 133 boxes featuring 901 diamonds, including 19 diamonds each weighing more than 50 carats. The largest stone weighed 232.76 carats and sold for $912,000.

In addition to 36 Russian firms, companies from the United States, India, Israel, Belgium and the United Arab Emirates took part in the auction.
