Alrosa Q2 Profits $131 Million
July 31, 05Alrosa, Russia's Yakutia-based diamond monopoly, posted net profits of 3.749 billion rubles ($130.95 million) in the second quarter of 2005, bringing first half of the year net profit to 6.483 billion rubles ($226.4408 million).
According to the Russian news agency Interfax, first half results are 32.3 percent higher than during the first half of 2004, reflecting, no doubt, the sharp rise in rough diamond prices on top to an increase in production.
Net profit in the first half of 2004 was 4.9 billion rubles ($171.1491 million). The company has not released production figures for 2005.
