Penny Willing to Consider Adding Israelis to DTC Marketing Plans
August 15, 05At the end of what has been described as a warm meeting, DTC Managing Director Gareth Penny promised Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) President Avi Paz to consider adding Israeli Diamantaires to DTC’s international marketing plans as well as to consider increasing Diamdel’s rough diamond supplies to the Israeli market.
During the July 25 meeting in London, Paz requested from Penny to consider adding Israeli diamantaires as full partners to the DTC’s future annual marketing plans. Joining these plans will allow them to participate in exhibitions, conferences, and any other activities that take place within DTC’s marketing plan, the IDE said this morning. Penny reportedly promised to consider it positively.
DTC’s investment in marketing is expected to be $200 million this year.
Diamdel’s allocation to the Israeli market, the second major issue at the meeting, apparently comes following the expressed disappointment that the DTC did not add Israelis to the list of Sightholders. The DTC added 11 new companies to the list last June.
Recently Penny promised to increase Diamdel’s allocation to $550 million. Paz wants to see Israel’s share of this allocation increased.
Another issue at hand was the finalization of DTC’s Marketing Director Stephen Lussier visit to Israel.
During the two day visit, scheduled for the last week of September, he will be presenting the DTC's marketing plans for the period until Christmas, known as Project Rudolph.
The World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) will be hosting the presentation.
