Israeli Jovella Jewelry Exhibition Closes in Tel Aviv
June 29, 06The third Jovella Jewelry Exhibition took place in Tel Aviv this week against the background of the World Diamond Congress. For two days, the Israel jewelry community gathered at the David Intercontinental Hotel where an estimated $100 million worth of jewelry designs were on display.
Organizers noted that already, in just two years, demand to exhibit at the fair has outstripped supply, with several companies now on a waiting list to display at the mainly domestic event. In all, around 140 companies exhibited, with expectations that next year will see an increase in the number of participants. Although the majority of visitors were from the Israeli jewelry retail market, a delegation from the World Diamond Congress also attended, “an added extra” one mentioned.
The Israeli jewelry manufacturers exhibiting this year covered the full spectrum, from high-end pearl, diamond, and gem jewelers, to a strong turnout of "cottage designers," each outdoing their neighbors with a look encompassing, religious and middle-eastern motifs, with a strong emphasis on colorful mosaics.
According to Sigal Shidlovsky, director of the jewelry division at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor the show had a large number of buyers from abroad. Next year the show will become an international one and many companies have already expressed an interest in participating as exhibitors.
