WFDB Pushes for Correct Usage of Mark by Holders
January 22, 08Diamantaires who are holders of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) Mark, the organization’s consumer confidence effort, have increasingly been posting the mark for display on their windows, in their showcases and on their Internet sites.
While understandably proud of this prominent use of the mark, WFDB Secretary General and Executive Director Michael Vaughn wants to make sure that it is used correctly. “Of course we would like to see many more of these testimonials on diamond exchange members’ websites worldwide,” Vaughn commented.
“However, it is important that it is done correctly. We often hear and see members of WFDB-affiliated bourses identifying themselves as ‘WFDB members,’ which is not a correct definition,” he asserted.
Vaughn explained that individual members of a bourse are not WFDB members – it is only their respective bourse of which they are a member, and it is the bourse itself that is a member of the WFDB. For an individual diamantaire to show his affiliation with the WFDB, he said, he or she needs only to become a WFDB Mark holder, which is a cost-free process.
