Gucci Joins RJC
December 02, 09Gucci has joined the Responsible Jewllery Council (RJC), according to an announcement released Wednesday by the RJC. As with every commercial member on the 140-member council, Gucci will be audited by accredited, third party auditors in order to verify whether its practices conform to the RJC’s Code of Practices.
The RJC has a unique system that incorporates international initiatives such as the Kimberly Process and ISO standards.
“We are extremely proud to join the Responsible Jewellery Council as we strongly believe in the role of this association. Gucci has taken a leadership position in the industry by strongly stating and demonstrating its commitment to corporate social responsibility," said Gucci President and CEO Patrizio di Marco.
"Our participation in RJC is a further step into an even more responsible path, which Gucci started in 2004 and has allowed us to align the whole supply chains of leather goods, jewelry and shoes to the CSR principles and SA8000 certification system.”
