Royal Asscher Designs Limited Edition Stars of Africa Piece for Diamond Jubilee

July 17, 12 by IDEX Online Staff Reporter

(IDEX Online News) – Getting on the diamond jubilee bandwagon, Royal Asscher has created a limited “Diamond Jubilee Stars” edition of its Stars of Africa collection. The six pieces of the collection are made of 18-karat rose gold and fancy color diamonds representing the colors of the Union Jack.

Each of the pieces has a unique serial number and certificate and they are only available at Royal Asscher in Harrods.

The ring contains 1.32 carats of white diamonds, 0.4 carats of blue diamonds and 0.4 carats of fancy pink floating diamonds. The pendant features 3.31carats of white, 0.8 carats of blue and 0.8 carats of fancy pink diamonds.

“The passion for fancy colored diamonds is a long lasting passion in the Asscher family," said managing director Mike Asscher. "The Diamond Jubilee ring is one of the most spectacular rings we have created in this collection. The blue and pink diamonds in combination with the white diamonds show Mother Nature’s true mystery.”

The relationship between Royal Asscher Diamond Company and the British royal family goes back to 1908 when the Asscher brothers of Amsterdam cut the Cullinan diamond. The Cullinan I (530 carats) was mounted in the head of the Scepter with the Cross; the Cullinan II (317 carats) was mounted in St. Edward's Crown. Both are part of the Royal Crown Jewels and on permanent display in the Tower of London.
