(IDEX Online News) – Russian mining behemoth Alrosa has recovered a 145.44-carat diamond from the Yubileynaya Diamond Pipe.
The octahedron-shaped diamond is transparent with a yellow hue. According to Alrosa's diamond sorting center, the stone could be valued at up to $1 million at auction.
The diamond's dimensions are 35mm x 20mm x 26 mm. There are small graphite-sulfide inclusions in its periphery. A production induced scuff is seen on one of its peaks and one of its facets has a shallow crack.
Alrosa is the world's largest producer of diamonds in terms of volume.
