(IDEX Online News) – Stornoway Diamond Corporation has received a positive Environmental Assessment Decision from the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency for the Renard Diamond Project. This means that the project has now received all of the major Québec and federal government authorizations required to commence construction.
"With this latest milestone achieved, we look forward to the opening the Renard Mine Road later this year, which will make Renard the first fully-permitted diamond mining project in Canada with a permanent road,” said Matt Manson, Stornoway president and CEO.
The Renard Diamond Project is located approximately 250 km north of the Cree community of Mistissini and 350 km north of Chibougamau in the James Bay region of north-central Québec. The project is expected to have an initial 11-year mine life.
