TanzaniteOne Wins CSR Awards

(IDEX Online News) – TanzaniteOne Mining has received several Presidential Awards for Extractive Industries in Corporate Social Responsibility for 2012 at a ceremony attended by Tanzania’s president, Dr Jakaya.M. Kikwete.

TanzaniteOne was first in the Water and Empowerment programs, and second in the Education and Employment categoires. The mining company also won second place overall in the Medium-Scale Mineral Projects category. 

“Our obligation to empowering the community through Corporate Social Responsibility on different programs continues, ,” said Dotto Medard, Corporate and Public Relations Manager for TanzaniteOne.

Hayley Henning, who runs the Tanzanite Foundation, the marketing arm of TanzaniteOne Mining, said, “We are dedicated to changing lives, not only through being able to educate the world about this extraordinary gem, but also by empowering the local communities though education and skills transfer. I’m thrilled to see that the local authorities and Government bodies are aware that TanzaniteOne is not only a mining operation, but takes care of their people and those around them.”

TanzaniteOne Mining Ltd is owned by Richland Resources Ltd, and is the largest miner and supplier of rough tanzanite, which is only found in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, East Africa.
