Chow Tai Fook Wins Copying Lawsuit in Shanghai Court

(IDEX Online) – Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Limited, the world’s largest jeweler has won lawsuits against two Shanghai companies "involved in the serious counterfeit and imitation of the company’s original proprietary product, the 'Ping An Bao Bao'”.

Chow Tai Fook won the civil suits in court in Shanghai. "Having witnessed that infringement of the company’s original proprietary collection the Bao Bao Family is getting more and more serious in the Mainland of China market and that counterfeits and imitations have been found constantly on both off-line and online markets, Chow Tai Fook took action against Shang Hai Li Jin Jewellery Company Limited and Shang Hai Zhang Liang Jewellery Company Limited in Shanghai for their infringement of its Ping An Bao Bao product, one of the proprietary items of the Bao Bao Family."

Chow Tai Fook welcomed the court’s verdict, saying it showed "a strict approach and adjudication … and reflects the respect and attention for the right of intellectual property, as well as the determination of Chinese authorities to defend against infringement.

"The ruling not only upholds intellectual property rights and the protection of consumers’ rights, it will also serve to curb the infringement of intellectual property in the Mainland of China," the jewelry giant added.
