Christie’s Auctions 101.3-Carat Diamond for $4.98 Million

The 101.36-Carat Stone
(IDEX Online News) – A cushion-cut L-color VS2 diamond was the top lot at the Important Jewels sale at Christie’s New York, held on Wednesday. The 101.36-carat stone realized a final price of $4.98 million, or $49,000 per carat.
All told, the 347-lot auction realized a total of $33.7 million with 260 lots being sold (75 percent by lot and 77 percent by value).
Other top-selling items included a rectangular-cut and circular-cut K-color faint brown VVS1 potentially Internally Flawless diamond pendant necklace of 81.38 carats, which garnered a price of $3.189 million, and a rectangular-cut H-color potentially Internally Flawless diamond of 23.89 carats, which sold for $1.56 million, or $65,500 per carat.
“Fine quality colorless diamonds achieved strong prices with international bidding,” said Rahul Kadakia, International Head of Christie’s Jewelry.
Christie’s Geneva will offer the 392-carat Blue Belle of Asia sapphire at its Magnificent Jewels auction on November 11.
